The Bill Wright Scholarship Fund
In an unpredictable world, we need to invest in the leaders of tomorrow! Students of the martial arts are empowered by learning focus, self-control, and perseverance. Sometimes this empowerment can dramatically improve the student's perspective on life and make them strong, confident individuals capable of great things.
Unfortunately, some students, who stand to benefit from this wonderful process, may not be in a position financially to participate. The Bill Wright Scholarship Fund was created in 1998 at the Okinawan Karate School to provide financial assistance to those students of Uechi-Ryu/Shohei-Ryu Karate. Additionally, the Bill Wright Scholarship Fund provides scholarships to students of the Okinawan Karate School entering college, in support of their higher education goals.
The Bill Wright Scholarship Fund has already proven successful many times over in its results, but needs your help to work. Donations from the community are the primary source of funding for this non-profit organization is community support. This year our Fund Drive goal is set at $2,500. Join us in supporting the Bill Wright Scholarship Fund by completing the donation form, link is in the side bar, and sending your donation to:

Who was Bill Wright?
William Wright began his study of Uechi-Ryu/Shohei-Ryu Karate at the age of 73. For Bill, karate was all about staying active and healthy, and a new lease on an already adventurous life. He set an example for all of us, and serves as an inspiration with his passionate dedication to an art which he grew to love. Bill earned the rank of Sandan (3rd degree Black Belt) through his hard work and dedication, and was an honored member of the Okinawa Karatedo Association. The Bill Wright Scholarship Fund was established in his honor after he passed away in 1997.
